Increasing awareness, building advocacy and creating action against the most pressing issues (the SDG’s) the world faces today.

On this unique for youth by youth platform, founded by KidsRights and connected by Facebook, we focus our attention, voice and vision on the key UN Sustainable Development Goals (“issues”). The ultimate goal is to inspire children to create real change and impact across the world. Through our social channels we create awareness on the SDGs, we call for action on important matters and we update our community about changemakers and their projects.

The Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all people on the planet. The SDGs were adopted in 2015 by all United Nations Member States. The 17 SDGs address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, and peace and justice. At State of Youth, we focus our attention and vision on the SDGs and use them as a guide in choosing topics to highlight on our platform. Oftentimes children do not have a seat at the table when addressing these issues. Thus, our platform aims at empowering and inspiring children to play a leading role in implementing changes that ultimately will have a huge impact on their future. In order to do so, we focus on one SDG per quarter, analysing it from different angles, in hope of creating awareness, advocacy and action surrounding the topic.

Preferendum

To let the voices of children be heard, we organise preferendums four times a year. During these quarterly preferendums, we ask the global youth community to vote on possible solutions for the SDGs. Afterwards we reveal the results and send them to Decisionmakers from all over the world to demand change.

>> View the most recent and previous preferenda here

Chapters Program

To create a sustainable youth movement there has to be a combination of online and offline action. The Chapters program aims at mobilising children on the ground in their local communities to take matters into their own hands. The program works with children to create a world in which children’s rights are guaranteed and the Sustainable Development Goals are fulfilled.

The State of Youth aims to empower the youth community (13-24 years) by building a non-political, non-religious digital “state” that transcends borders.
