Many people died during this time, including some of Thandiwe\u2019s teachers. This caused a shortage of\u00a0<strong>teachers<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>schools<\/strong>\u00a0were\u00a0<strong>forced to close<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>right to education\u00a0<\/strong>was at stake.<\/p>\n<p>Thandiwe believes education is extremely important. It\u2019s a basic right for every child. She grew up in a poor neighborhood in Zambia where many children, especially girls, do not have access to education. In addition, there are few or poor facilities at school. She motivated\u00a0<strong>60 other children<\/strong>\u00a0to participate in a march to another school, to\u00a0<strong>claim their right to education<\/strong>\u00a0and ask to be admitted there. The\u00a0<strong>march\u00a0<\/strong>was successful and all 60 children were accepted. She wants to contribute to a future where the HIV-virus no longer exists. \u00a0According to Thandiwe,\u00a0<strong>this change starts with the children<\/strong>. She is convinced that all children should know what kind of an illness AIDS is, how it should be handled and how you can prevent it. For this reason, she wrote a children&#8217;s book;\u00a0<strong>The Chicken with AIDS<\/strong>, a book about a chicken with AIDS that infects a duck. For example, she speaks with some friends in churches and at public affairs about HIV \/ AIDS. By doing so, they hope to further\u00a0<strong>break<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>taboo\u00a0<\/strong>on HIV \/ AIDS and create more\u00a0<strong>awareness<\/strong>\u00a0on this topic in Zambia.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIf not you, then who? Thanks to the Children&#8217;s Peace Prize Project Fund, classrooms were added and the school was provided with computers and a library; Thandiwe&#8217;s Library. In addition, a classroom has been set up as a science laboratory with equipment for various scientific experiments.
